RSS ADD (I suck at internet, chapter 1)
I’m cleaning out my rss readers today… I have two huge problems with RSS feeds… Okay 3 huge problems…
1) an hour or two after reading my feeds, I’ll be talking to someone and want to refer to something I’ve read earlier in the day… I can NEVER remember where I read it…. because I don’t have the mnemonic of a branded area or an object… And saying “I read it in my rss feed” doesn’t work… Maybe I need to say “I linked to it on my blog…” But I don’t always know when something is going to be relevant later in the day… who would?
2) When I’m reading everything from one site (like collegehumor or amir and jake), I’ll keep the voice / point of view from the old site in my head when i go to the next one (Gothamist / NY times)… It’s weird to read a headline about real news with snarky voices in your head…
3) Sometimes I let things slide… and there I am with 673 news stories in my reader from a site I forgot why I subscribed to in the first place… and I have too much Midwestern upbringing to just delete it… I feel COMPELLED to at least try to read 40-50 of them…
So… I guess the takeaway here is… I suck at internet.
here’s a picture of the internet giving me a whupping.
